Costa Rica opens travel from the United States – How will it impact the tourism industry ?



The Costa Rican government announced that Residents and citizens who enter as tourists from any U.S. state will be able to enter Costa Rica starting November 1, 2020. According to the Minister of Tourism this measure will help the country’s economic recovery and job creation.

In the interim, residents of the States of Florida, Georgia and Texas will be able to enter starting on October 15, 2020.

According to data from the Ministry of National Planning and Economic Policy (MIDEPLAN) , allowing the entry of US citizens could generate US $ 1,5 billion in foreign currency, or 2.5 points of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
