Puerto Viejo is a town with some of the best food in Costa Rica. There are almost as many restaurants as people these days, but sometimes there is no need to get dressed up and head to one of these many restaurants. Sometimes you just need to walk up the beach and get some local grub. The Caribbean side of Costa Rica has a mix of many cultures, but this surf town was once mainly a fishermen town where the main inhabitants were the Afro-Caribbeans from Jamaican descent. So you can’t visit the Caribbean without trying some local Caribbean or Jerk Chicken with Rice & Beans!
